Coolie Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 12: Rajinikanth’s actioner nears the Rs 500 cr milestone
Coolie Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 12: While the Rajinikanth-starrer is gearing up to cross the Rs 500 crore mark globally, its current performance is significantly poorer compared to bigger blockbusters Jailer, Leo, and 2.0.

Coolie Box Office Collection Day 12: Despite their movie opening to average-to-poor reviews, “Superstar” Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj have once again demonstrated their box office pull as Coolie gears up to enter the Rs 500 crore club, making it only the fourth-ever Tamil movie to achieve this milestone. However, it has also become very apparent that the film won’t climb higher on the list of highest-grossing Tamil movies of all time — where it currently ranks fourth — since its daily earnings have dipped to less than Rs 3 crore.
On Monday, Coolie recorded an India nett collection of just Rs 2.52 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, taking its domestic total to Rs 259.87 crore. Deplorably, the Rajinikanth-starrer managed to earn only slightly more than its main rival, the critically panned Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-starrer War 2 (Rs 2.15 crore), on day 12. While Coolie’s worldwide gross currently stands at Rs 479 crore, War 2, mounted on an even bigger budget, is trailing behind at Rs 340.15 crore.
Having hit the screens on the same day (August 14), Coolie had been outperforming War 2 so far, but it appears now that both the big-budget actioners are traversing their twilight days, and the arrival of a decent movie in any language would effectively end their theatrical runs.
During the day, Coolie recorded an overall occupancy of just 13.67 per cent in the Tamil market. Although the day commenced with a low 12.29 per cent occupancy during the morning shows, the rate improved slightly as the day progressed. It registered 13.48 per cent occupancy during the afternoon shows, rose to 14.97 per cent in the evening, but dipped slightly to 13.93 per cent during the night screenings.

While Coolie is gearing up to surpass the Rs 500 crore mark globally, its current performance is appalling compared to the movies above it in the list of the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time. While Jailer (2023) had registered a second Monday nett collection of Rs 5.7 crore and a lifetime worldwide gross of Rs 604.5 crore, “Thalapathy” Vijay’s Leo (2023) earned Rs 4.45 crore and Rs 605.9 crore, while 2.0 (2018) grossed Rs 7.25 crore and Rs 691 crore.
