Coolie box office collection day 4: Rajinikanth’s film tops global charts as it crosses Rs 400 cr mark; leaves War 2 behind in India

Coolie box office collection day 4: The release of a Rajinikanth film is nothing short of a festival for his fans, who throng theatres to watch ‘Thalaiva’ in action. His latest flick Coolie is no different. Despite seeing a dip in its collection on Sunday, the film is close to crossing the Rs 200 crore mark. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 34 crore, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 193.28 crore. However, Coolie has failed to break Vijay’s Leo box office record that grossed around Rs. 403 crore in its extended first weekend.

Coolie box office journey and occupancy

The Rajinikanth-starrer opened at the box office on Thursday with an impressive Rs 65 crore. Since then, collections have seen a steady decline, though the film continues to rake in moolah. It earned Rs 54.75 crore on Friday, marking a 15 percent drop, followed by Rs 39.5 crore on Saturday, a further 27 percent dip. On Sunday, the film collected Rs 34 crore, down another 13 percent.

On Sunday, Coolie earned maximum moolah from the Tamil version of the film — Rs 22.5 crore — followed by its Telugu version — Rs 6.5 crore, Hindi version earned Rs 4.65 crore, while the Kannada version minted Rs 35 lakh. Coolie had an overall 63.75% Tamil occupancy, 41.98% Hindi occupancy and 49.53% Telugu Occupancy on Sunday.

Day 1 (1st Thursday) – Rs 65 Cr – (Tamil: Rs 44.5 cr; Hindi: Rs 4.5 cr; Telugu: Rs 15.5 cr; Kannada: Rs 0.5 cr)

Day 2 (1st Friday) – Rs 54.75 cr (Tamil: Rs 34.45 cr; Hindi: Rs 6.3 cr; Telugu: Rs 13.5 cr; Kannada: Rs0.5 cr)

Day 3 (1st Saturday) – Rs 39.5 cr (Tamil: Rs 25.75 cr; Hindi: Rs 4.2 cr; Telugu: Rs 9.5 cr; Kannada: Rs 0.25 cr)

Day 4 (1st Sunday) – Rs 34 cr (Tamil: Rs 22.5 cr; Hindi: Rs 4.65 cr; Telugu: Rs 6.5 cr; Kannada: Rs 0.35 cr)

Total domestic collection – Rs 193.25 cr

Coolie worldwide box office collection

Coolie is giving major competition to international films in the North America market. Over the extended weekend, the film minted $45.34 million (Rs 397 crore) worldwide, leaving behind films like Freakier Friday, War 2 and Fantastic Four: First Steps. Hrithik Roshan’s film stands at the 7th position on the Comscore chart, while Coolie stands at number 4. According to Comscore, Coolie became the second Tamil film and the 5th Indian film to ever top the global box office rankings. It was preceded by Master, RRR, Brahmastra, and Animal on this exclusive list.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala shared the data and wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “#Comscore global estimates for #Coolie ‘s 1st extended weekend is out! Debuts at No.4 in the world.. Gross estimates $45.34 Million [ 397 Crs] * * – Actuals may be higher This is All-time No.1 opening for a Kollywood movie 🔥 #SuperstarRajinikanth.”

The analyst also predicted that Coolie’s first extended weekend’s worldwide collection would reach around Rs 410 crore, making it the ‘No.1 opening for a Kollywood movie’. He wrote, “#Coolie ‘s 1st extended weekend WW gross will be around 410 Crs.. This is All-time No.1 opening for a Kollywood movie.. 🔥.”

Coolie vs War 2

Coolie released in theatres alongside Hrithik and Jr NTR’s War 2 on August 14. Hrithik’s film was released in multiple languages and it is Jr NTR’s fan-following in the Telugu region that has proved vital for the film’s success. War 2 minted Rs 31 crore on Sunday, with its total domestic collection standing at Rs 173.60 crore, which is less than Coolie’s Rs 193.28 crore. War 2’s worldwide collection stands at $31.52 million (Rs 276.5 crore).

Coolie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj and Rachita Ram in key roles. The film also has cameo appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde.
