It seems that Tamil star Ajith Kumar is not ready to take a break and revel in the success of his latest film Vidaamuyarchi just yet, and has already moved on to the next chapter of his racing career — one of his greatest passions. While Vidaamuyarchi continues its triumphant run, Ajith is back on the track, all set to take part in a major motorsport event in Portugal. However, during a recent practice session, his car reportedly met with a serious accident, though he escaped unscathed. During a recent training session for the racing event that will take place in Estoril, Ajith’s car met with an accident on the track, sustaining damage. Fortunately, he was quickly rescued and emerged without injuries. He, however, downplayed the incident later as a "minor accident" since no one was injured and expressed gratitude to those who supported him. Ajith also shared his excitement about competing on the same circuit where Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna claimed his first victory. Acknowledging the challenges of the track, he noted that his timing, however, has improved. Opening up about the sport’s rising popularity in his home ground since his involvement, he told the Times of India, "It truly excites me to see them embracing something I love so much." Despite the accident, his team got the car ready for the qualifying round, allowing Ajith to successfully participate. This marks the second accident Ajith has been involved in recently. In January, while training for the Dubai 24H race, his car crashed into a safety barrier, spinning multiple times before stopping. A video of the incident had gone viral, but he walked away unharmed then too. However, Ajith triumphed in the 24H Dubai 2025 endurance race, emerging with flying colours. While his team, Ajith Kumar Racing by Bas Koeten, secured third place in the 991 category, the actor also got the Spirit of the Race recognition in the GT4 category. Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, Vidaamuyarchi also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra and Arav in key roles. The film has already grossed Rs 92 crore worldwide, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, with a domestic nett collection of Rs 62.25 crore.
