Bobby Deol addresses Kanguva’s underwhelming box-office performance: ‘What can you do when the script doesn’t work out?’
In a recent interview, actor Bobby Deol reflected on his experience working with Suriya and discussed the underwhelming box-office performance of Kanguva.

After a career slump, actor Bobby Deol reinvented himself by embracing antagonist roles in projects such as Aashram, Animal, Daaku Maharaj, among others, across regional language industries. However, his Tamil-language debut, Kanguva, opposite Suriya, marked a slight misstep. In a recent interview, Bobby reflected on his experience working with Suriya and addressed the box-office failure of Kanguva.
In an interview with Fariddon Shahryar, the actor said, “I did Kanguva because I always wanted to be a part of a film with Suriya as he is a great actor.“ Kanguva saw Bobby Deol play the despicable Udhiran, who takes on the mighty Kanguvan, a warrior prince leading the island of ‘Perumaachi’ in the year 1070.
During the conversation, Bobby Deol also spoke about Kanguva’s underwhelming box-office performance. “What can you do when the script doesn’t work out? Sometimes I just want to be happy while shooting for a film. I want to be there because as an actor, I can grow.”
Bobby also opened up about being part of Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer Daaku Maharaaj. He shared, “I was a part of Daaku Maharaaj, which hit theatres in January. It was a big hit, and it was great working with Bala sir. He’s literally the star of the masses.”
Down south, Bobby Deol will next be seen in Thalapathy Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. He also has Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar and Alia Bhatt’s YRF Spy Universe film Alpha in the pipeline
