Saif Ali Khan

A complaint filed with the Union Home Ministry in March had demanded that Saif Ali Khan should not be allowed to retain the Padma Shri Award conferred on him in 2010 after a Mumbai court  charged him for assaulting an NRI businessman at a Mumbai hotel. However, recently the ministry denied any move to strip him of his award as the matter is under examination and the  ministry has to call for necessary records from the state government or the courts to validate the charges made in the complaint. Till then Saif is safe.

In recognition

Madhur Bhandarkar will be honoured with the Raj Kapoor Smriti Award by the Maharashtra State government for his contribution to Indian Cinema. The film-maker tweeted, “Thank you to each one of you for the congratulatory messages you sent. I accept this Maharashtra State honour bestowed on me, in all humility.” Besides him, veteran actress Tanuja and Marathi actress Uma Bhende will also be conferred with the Lifetime Achievement honour later this month.
