What has made Tevar special and look different, according to Sanjay Kapoor the films producer, is that it was shot in real locations in Agra and Mathura. In Agra it was shot in the Tajganj area, which encircles the Taj Mahal and is one of the most congested areas in the city. The place is historical as it once housed the 20,000 workers who built the Taj Mahal in the seventeenth century!
“Both Agra and Mathura were very challenging to shoot, because these small towns are crowded, and to top it we shot in sync sound. In the Tajganj area there are several terraces adjoining each other and it was quite a task to keep the noise level down, but after a few days the people started cooperating and we managed to shoot peacefully. The result is fantastic because the audience will get to see the real flavours of the city and feel that they are actually there when watching the film,” said Kapoor, visibly excited about his first production venture.
According to Kapoor it is not easy to get permission to shoot in Tajganj and it’s only because they met the Chief Minister of UP and got a lot of help from people living there that the 27 day shoot went off smoothly.
Tevar stars Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor and releases on January 9.
