Film-maker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has started shooting for Mirziyan, (tentative title) a romantic tale inspired by the folktale of Sahiban and Mirza. The shooting took off early this month in Rajasthan and is currently in progress.
Written by noted film-maker, lyricist and author Gulzar, the film is a contemporary take on the legendary love story and will introduce Anil Kapoor’s son Harshwardhan and Tanvi Azmi’s niece Saiyami Kher. Meanwhile, the film-maker has completed recording the music of the film, and helped the youngsters rehears extensively to prepare them for their debut, roping in teachers in each department while spending a lot of time with them himself.
With this film, Mehra tries his hand at a new genre —love, something he hasn’t done before. The film will also be shot in Ladakh.
