To bring back humour to the channel, MTV has collaborated with Balaji Motion Pictures for the show MTV Jhand Hogi Sabki. The show is conceptualised in sync with Balaji’s next film, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi and actors Siddharth Gupta and Ashish Juneja will be hosting the show that aims to revive the former glory of MTV Bakra. An Indian adaptation of the popular international show Punk’d, that was hosted byAshton Kutcher, this edition shall see celebrities playing pranks on each other.
“MTV is always known for humour. We’ve had some intellectual properties in the past, one of the most popular ones being Bakra. We were thinking about how to bring back an iconic property like Bakra and make it even bigger. That’s why we tied up with Balaji for a bigger and a better version,” he said.
When asked how different the experience was from the film, Gupta said, “The show was a completely different experience. It wasn’t very challenging. The film was a lot of acting, while the show is more reality-based. We had a lot of fun on the sets” But while, playing host may not have been challenging, making the show was a tough job. “It’s one of the most difficult shows that we have done this year because pulling a prank on these celebrities who are so famous and busy, is tough. Jhand… revives the genre of humour for youngsters that is clean and brings back reality to television in a way that will leave people smiling,” remarked Vikas.
