Viewers, who avoided going to the theatres and are waiting for PK to be screened on the tube, are in for a disappointment. Unfortunately, for sometime now, the satellite market has been down. In the last six months, the rights of hardly any films have been sold to channels.
The film producers are holding back in order to get a fair amount from the channels.
It is because of this that even the makers of PKhave decided not to sell the satellite rights as of now. The agency handling the public relation activities for the film confirms the news.
“TV channels haven’t been keen on spending big bucks to screen Bollywood films. This a correction measure for the big boom that had come a few years ago and astronomical prices were being paid for film rights,” says Jayantilal Gada (PEN), CMD, PEN India Pvt Ltd, Zee Network. He also remarks that this would be followed as a norm by the channels now and thus the film-makers should get used to it.
