Sazae-San extends record of longest-running anime series

Sazae San has officially extended its world record as the longest-running anime series on television. The show began airing on October 5, 1969 and currently has more than 2700 episodes. The anime broke two records simultaneously: longest-running anime series and longest career as a voice actor for the same character in an animated TV series (female). The latter record is held by Midori Kato, the voice of Sazae Fuguta.
The original manga series started running on a local paper in the neighbourhood of creator Machiko Hasegawa. She moved to Tokyo when the creators at Asahi Shimbun invited her to draw for them. It became one of the most successful manga in history with around 86 million copies in circulation near the turn of the century.
Voice actor and director Dan Hennessey passes away at 83

Noted voice actor and director Dan Hennessey has passed away at the age of 83. Reports say that he died after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Hennessey was best known for directing the X-Men animated series. He also voiced the sentinel robot in CAPCOM’S Marvel fighting games and the character of Thomson in the Adventures of Tintin. Other notable works include voicing Brave Heart Lion in the Care Bears, Bully Koopa in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World and also the Father Bear in The Little Bear.
Attack on Titan: The Last Attack moves to 2nd spot at Japanese box office

Attack on Titan: The Last Attack has moved to the 2nd spot at the Japanese box-office. Yui Tumara’s live-action comedy Mr. Yano’s Ordinary Days has claimed the number one spot with earnings of $4,83,000 in its first three days.
Hajime Isayama’s original manga started circulating in 2009 and was published till 2021. It inspired an anime in 2013, which ran till 2023, with the fourth season being its last.
Attack on Titan: The Last Attack has earned around $3.48 million since it opened on November 8.
Sung Hoo Park announces original anime series

Director and animator Sung Hoo Park has dropped a teaser for his original anime series called Bullet/Bullet. The series will stream on Disney+ and will be released in 2025.
Sung Hoo Park is well known for his directorial and animation exploits. He directed Ninja Kamui and the first season of the fan favorite Jujutsu Kaisen. He worked in the animation department for the Jujutsu Kaisen movie Zero and The God of High School.
While sharing the teaser of Bullet/Bullet, Sung Hoo Park revealed Aki Kindaichi (Cinderella Gray), Takahiroi Yoshimatsu (HunterxHunter), Hidetaka Tenjin and Shin Misawa (Initial D) will be working with him on the anime. Park shared that he has spent over a decade creating the narrative for his upcoming original series.
Park’s studio P&H Studios and GAGA will be producing Bullet/Bullet.
