Rajinikanth’s 2.0 budget hiked to Rs 400 crore, makers pump in additional Rs 50 cr

As the fandom is slowly sinking to the fact that Shankar and Rajinikanth’s next 2.0 was made at a humongous budget of Rs 350 crore, the filmmakers rose the bar of the expectations adding a whopping Rs 50 crore to the sum.

According to reports, the revised budget estimated shot to Rs 400 crore that was incurred for the high-end graphics used in the making of 2.0, a sequel to the blockbuster film Enthiran.

Now, the amount has a clear margin from Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 that was touted to be the costliest Indian movie, at a budget of Rs 250 crore.

It is also evident that a huge amount of money is flowing through the making and promoting of 2.0.

VFX designer of 2.0 V Srinivas Mohan, who worked on both Baahubali and Enthiran, says that 2.0 will have the best VFX effects ever. The film also packs some action-heavy sequences as Hollywood stunt choreographer Kenny Bates was roped in to worked closely with the 2.0 crew. Kenny is known for blockbuster Hollywood flicks like Pearl Harbour, Transformers and Die Hard.

The makers of 2.0 had organised an extravaganza in Mumbai just for the launch of its first look poster where at least Rs 6 crore was spent. The production house has also reportedly pumped in at least Rs 40 crore for its promotions.

However, 2.0 is still not the costliest film in Asia as it was touted to be. China’s forthcoming epic fantasy film, Asura tops the rank with a budget of $100 million, that is close to Rs 600 crore.
