In the 50th year of the creation of Satyajit Ray’s iconic sleuth character ‘Feluda’, the maestro’s director son Sandip Ray will bring two Feluda stories packaged in one film.

“It is heartening to see Ray’s popularity is increasing among the Gen Next with passing time and precisely for this reason we have decided to bring back ‘Feluda’ on screen in the 50th year of its creation,” Sandip told PTI.

The two stories are ‘Samaddarer Chabi’ (Samaddar’s Key) and ‘Golokdham Rahasya’ (Golokdham Mystery),” Sandip said while attending to the people who visited Ray’s house on his 95th birth anniversary today.

It will be a comeback for the old warhorse Sabyasachi Chakraborty as Feluda, who had earlier portrayed the sleuth in several Feluda films.

“I had taken Abir (Chatterjee) as Feluda in my earlier film ‘Badshahi Angti’. But he is also essaying the character of another popular Bengali sleuth Byomkesh in a series. There will be identitiy crisis so far as the audience is concerned,” he said.

So Sabyasachi will be Feluda again, he said.

Sabyasachi portrayed Feluda on both small and big screens after legendary Soumitra Chattopadhyay donned the detective’s hat in two films directed by Ray himself in 1970s.

Abir was Feluda in one film, the last one, ‘Badsahi Angti’ in 2014.
