Marathi film Lapachhapi premieres at the Brooklyn Film Festival
Marathi film Lapachhapi had its World Premiere at Brooklyn Film Festival.

Marathi film Lapachhapi had its World Premiere at Brooklyn Film Festival at Windmill Studios in USA on June 5, 2016. Lapachhapi is the first ever Marathi film to be screened at the festival since 19 years of its inception. And despite thundershowers lashing Brooklyn, a good number of foreign as well Indian viewers turned up to watch the Marathi offering.
Speaking to Indian Express.com, S. Ramachandran, associate producer of Lapachhapi shared, “The response of the audience was quite overwhelming. They emoted at the right places and we knew that the film had struck the right chord not just with the Indian diaspora but the locals in the US as well which was what we wanted to achieve day one. The foreign audience understood the pulse of the film.”
The screening was followed by a Q and A session that saw the director and producer answering a volley of questions.
Incidentally, Lapachhapi was also the official selection at the festival thereby making it the first Indian horror film at Brooklyn apart from being the first ever Marathi film to be screened.
The film stars Make In India fame Pooja Sawant, veteran Marathi superstar Usha Naik and TV heartthrob Vikram Gaikwad in lead roles.
