Chandan Shetty, Niveditha Gowda divorce after four years of marriage: ‘We ended our marriage legally with mutual understanding’

Chandan Shetty and Niveditha Gowda tied the knot in 2020 after falling in love on the sets of Bigg Boss Kannada season 5.

Actor-singer and Bigg Boss Kannada season 5 winner Chandan Shetty and influencer Niveditha Gowda have parted ways after four years of marriage. On Friday, there were reports of the couple filing for divorce in the Bengaluru family court. A few hours later, Niveditha Gowda took to her Instagram handle to share a note regarding the same.

It read, “Chandan Shetty and myself have ended our marriage legally on good terms and mutual understanding. We request support from the media, our friends, and fans who stood by us at all times to respect our decision and our privacy. Even though we are going our separate ways, we still care and respect each other. Your kindness, understanding and encouragement mean a lot to both of us during this period. Thank you all.”

Just a week before the divorce announcement, the couple was seen attending a promotional event of Daali Dhananjaya’s upcoming film Koti Manaranjane. Last month, Niveditha shared a glimpse of her 25th birthday celebration on her Instagram handle. Taking it to her comments section, Chandan Shetty wrote, “Happy birthday to my beautiful wife” followed by a heart emoji.

Chandan Shetty, 34, and Niveditha Gowda met on the reality show Bigg Boss Kannada season 5 and fell in love. During their time in the reality show, the actor-singer wrote a song for his lady love “Gombe”, which became a fan favourite. Later, during Dasara celebrations in Mysuru in 2019, amid their performance during one of the events, Chandan Shetty proposed to Niveditha Gowda for marriage. They eventually tied the knot in 2020.

Chandan Shetty is a music composer, lyricist and singer predominantly active in Kannada cinema. He made his debut as a composer in the 2016 film Railway Children. Niveditha Gowda is an infuencer who rose to fame after her stint as a contestant on Bigg Boss Kannada.

Trump announces 25% tariff on India and unspecified penalties for buying Russian oil

Even as India and the US negotiate a trade agreement, President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods from August 1, with an additional but unspecified “penalty” for its defence and energy imports from Russia.

In a post on social media platform Truth Social, Trump said India has “the most strenuous and obnoxious non-monetary Trade Barriers of any Country”.
