Divya Khosla’s Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi: No comparison to the original
Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi' is the revamped version of Falguni Pathak's classic track 'Chudi.' The song is sung by Neha Kakkar, written by Jaani and composed by Tanishk Bagchi.

Raise your hands if you are one of those who grew up on “Chudi” song by Falguni Pathak. For those of you who don’t know, the peppy romantic number has been revamped by T-Series. It has been brought to life by Neha Kakkar, has been written by Jaani and composed by Tanishk Bagchi. The video features Divya Khosla Kumar.
With the new song, the makers have tried to give a narrative to support the inane lyrics. We are transported to the year 3010, where no life exists, with the exception of a robot who looks a lot like Wall-E. He finds a camera in which a guy is making his love confession to Sitara (played by Divya) and then we are taken to the past.

Sitara is head-over-heels in love with a man who couldn’t care less about her. She sings the song for him. It begins fine until she breaks into the hook step. What is that step? Next, we are taken to the guy’s wedding. While he is happy, Sitara is drunk on Maggi (another ridiculous addition).
While Sitara channels Kangana Ranaut of Tanu Weds Manu 2, we are forced to hear another classic bite the dust.
You just want the torture to end but wait, there is a second part of the story too. By the end of the video, because the robot’s battery dies, it sends an SOS to someone on some other planet. And guess who it is? Sitara from the future. So, picture abhi baaki hai mere dost. Unfortunately.
As soon as the video ended, I could not help but listen to the original. Four girls, excited to go to a concert, prepping what to wear, first brush with the first crush — the innocence of the track cannot be rivalled.
Bottomline: The music industry needs to stop ruining every 90s track we hold dear. Enough of this remix business.
