Victory Lap: Fred Again needs to give Hanumankind a proper verse, listen to the song before Instagram ruins it

After Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh sang their way into the hearts of millions of people worldwide with “Sapphire'”, the music gods have blessed us again, and this time they have done that through producer and DJ Fred Again, who basically just called everyone on his contact list and made a song that is already taking the world by storm within just 24 hours of its release. The DJ dropped two tracks on Spotify titled “Victory Lap” pt. 1 and 2, and while the overall structure and instrumentation of both tracks are the same, the second part leaves nothing to one’s imagination with electrifying verses from some of the biggest names in the industry, including a single-bar cameo from Hanumankind.

Hard-hitting hi-hats and snares along with a bass track (which is more addicting than whatever Eric Clapton was consuming back in the 70s) almost creep up on you layer by layer, as Doechii kicks things off with a ‘hook’-like verse which later becomes the bridge between different sections performed by other artistes. As soon as you start bopping your head, trying to keep up with the instrumental along with Doechii’s crisp delivery, which seems to suit her more than some of her slower and profound tracks, British rapper Skepta enters the booth with bars that make you wonder whether he is rapping to save his life. The grime rapper references everything from podcast hosts Wallo and Gillie to Hugo Boss and Patrick Bateman from the movie American Psycho before he lays the ball up for Denzel Curry to completely slam it home 6 ways to Sunday.

If some of you have forgotten who Denzel is or what he is capable of, he was the one responsible for millions of memes and vines that were created on his track “Ultimate”. Since then, he has been putting in the work and dropping quality projects, along with performing impressive covers of rock bands such as Rage Against The Machine. Curry goes deep in his arsenal, and after skirting with the speed limit of the track, switches to half-time delivery, which adds another impressive layer to the already engaging song by giving a breather, which doesn’t take away from the pace of the track but still allows you to sit back and take it all in. Curry transitions into a bridge after that, with Doechii finishing things off with her hook of the song.

Just before the curtain closes, though, you can hear a single line sung by a pretty familiar voice, as Hanumankind closes the song with a single bar. One can only hope that this is some kind of a hint that Fred and Hanumankind are planning to work on a project together in the future, and if this hip-hop-heavy track was any kind of indication, the audience is in for a real treat.
