A couple of years ago, Taylor Swift turned a billionaire. As of October 2023, the popstar’s net worth was estimated as around $1.24 billion. Now, she’s almost doubled that figure within just a span of two years. Bloomberg reports her current net worth is estimated to be $2.1 billion (approx Rs 18,450 crores). Besides external factors like changes in the market, here’s how Taylor has doubled her net worth.

The Life of a Showgirl

Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, has officially sold 4.002 million equivalent album units — which includes album sales and streaming activity — in its first week in the US. That is reported to be the biggest first week in modern music history. She broke the record set by Adele’s 25, which sold 3.378 million copies in its first week in 2015 in the US.

The Life of a Showgirl was released on October 3. In its first week, pure album sales totalled 3,479,500 copies. In its first day of release, the album sold 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales, breaking her record for most first week sales in one day. Her last album, The Tortured Poets Department, which dropped last year, amassed 2.61 million equivalent album units in the US in its first week.

The Life of a Showgirl also broke the record for the most copies of a vinyl album sold in a single week in the US, with 1.2 million copies in its first day. The previous record holder was The Tortured Poets Department, which sold 859,000 copies on vinyl in its first week. She also dominated the box office over the release weekend with her three-day event, The Official Release Party of a Show Girl, which debuted at no. 1 with $33 million in North America.

The Eras Tour

It hasn’t been even a year since Taylor concluded her historic Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows, five continents, 10.1 million fans in attendance, and 21 months from March 2023 to December 2024. It’s the highest grossing music tour in history, earning over $2 billion from just ticket sales. Add to that, the sale of merchandise and takeaways from multiple top-tier brand endorsements.

Along with the tour, Swift also released a concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which earned $267.1 million worldwide during its theatrical run. It also earned a streaming deal on Disney+ worth $75 million. Swift isn’t done with the Eras Tour yet, as she announced earlier this month that The Eras Tour: The End of an Era, a a six-episode, behind-the-scenes docuseries about her landmark tour, along with The Eras Tour: The Final Show, a concert film now with the inclusion of The Tortured Poets Department section, will both debut on Disney+ on December 12.

Swift has already made music worth $400 million since 2019. Now that she’s acquired her full music catalogue from years before that as “Taylor’s Version” of those songs, this figure has gone up significantly higher. All of these moves in the past two years have helped Swift increase her net worth from $1.4 billion to $2.1 billion, thus reconsolidating her position as the richest female musician of the world.

Richest female musicians

After Swift, the richest female musician of the world is Rihanna, who has a net worth of $1.4 billion from not only her music and acting gigs, but also her beauty brand Fenty Beauty and lingerie brand Savage X Fenty. Rihanna is then the only female musician besides Swift who’s a part of the prestigious billionaire club. Following her is Madonna, who has a net worth of $850 million. And then there’s Beyonce at $780 million, who’s benefitted immensely from her Renaissance World Tour in 2023.
