Seoul police said that Jungkook, a member of superstar K-pop group BTS, was involved in a car accident in he city on Monday that left a taxi driver and the singer with minor injuries. The Associated Press reported that Jungkook had been booked for the incident and was being investigated regarding the incident according to local traffic laws. Jungkook’s entertainment agency, Big Hit Entertainment, said they had reached a settlement with the injured taxi driver and admitted that the singer was responsible for the incident.
“We apologise again to the victim and also to fans for causing concern,” the agency told the Associated Press in an emailed statement. According to local South Korean news reports, police were investigating the case as that of a minor incident because no significant damage was caused to other people or to property.
South Korean news agency Yonhap News said local police plan on summoning Jungkook for further questioning and ruled out the involvement of other offences such as driving under the influence. The Segye Ilbo newspaper said according to police reports, Jungkook had violated unspecified traffic rules while driving his Mercedes Benz and hit the taxi in the Hannam neighbourhood in Yongsan district in Seoul.
As news reports emerged about Jungkook’s involvement in the accident, BTS fans on social media platforms jumped to the K-pop star’s defence.
Fans of BTS began scouring local South Korean and international news portals and social media platforms for more information. Hours after the accident, Big Hit Entertainment released an official statement saying, “Jungkook admitted that he violated the Road Traffic Act immediately after the accident. The scene of the accident was resolved and police questioning was completed according to the due process, and an amicable settlement was made with the victim afterwards.”
this is very misleading and not quite what really happened. we tried to untrend something that we trended by accident which could be seen as misinformation. we are not saying he never got involved in an accident. what happened is human. everybody makes mistakes.

they’re not covering it up but just clearing the searches. Beside, jk himself and the agency had apologized and everything’s clear. This is so misleading.

We do acknowledge that the specific member was at fault in that accident and that he did make a mistake. We also noticed that he owned up to that mistake and handled the issue in a mature way, whereas the media and certain other individuals used this minor accident+

The searches were cleaned, because haters used this opportunity to spread negativity. Also korean journalists used some misleading titles for their articles that led to the assumptions that the situation was really bad.

BTS is one of K-pop’s biggest groups with an international fan-base. The group’s dynamic rise to superstardom since they first started in 2013 has been unprecedented in Korean pop music.
