Sean 'Diddy' Combs has said that he is "scared to death" and apologised profusely in a detailed letter written to the judge ahead of sentencing on October 3. He also begged for mercy and apologised profusely. The disgraced rapper was found guilty in July on the charges of prostitution. He was, however, acquitted on the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. His bid to get the prostitution charges thrown out failed and he will be sentenced on Friday by the US judge, Arun Subramanian. Combs has led a controversial life - from holding on to the music royalties of dead artists to his 'freak-off' parties, Diddy had been accused of a lot, but things really started going downhill for the record producer last year when he got arrested. Now, Diddy has spent just over a year in jail, and on the eve of his latest sentencing, the west-coast executive wrote to the judge presiding over his case. In his letter, Diddy talked about being a reformed man and wrote that, "Over the past year there have been so many times that I wanted to give up. There have been some days I thought I would be better off dead. The old me died in jail, and a new version of me was reborn. Prison will change you or kill you – I choose to live. In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them. There is no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself. I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words ‘I’m sorry’ will never be good enough, as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past." The clip of the producer attacking the singer in a hotel lobby was played repeatedly throughout Diddy's trial. He wrote, "The scene and images of me assaulting Cassie play over and over in my head daily. I literally lost my mind. I was dead wrong for putting my hands on the woman that I loved. I’m sorry for that and always will be." Cassie herself submitted a statement to the court in which she said, "During my time with Combs, I was in a constant state of hypervigilance, as I was always anticipating demands for sex acts or otherwise fearing retribution for any perceived slight. My descent into substance abuse was directly correlated with his increased control over my body, my money, my freedom, and my free will." He also wrote about the 'inhumane' conditions at the Brooklyn federal jail, saying he's locked up with 25 other inmates, in a room without windows and clean air, where they have to boil water before drinking. The sentencing will give the verdict on Diddy being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors are demanding an 11-year-long jail term for the disgraced rap mogul, while his lawyers argue that the year he has already spent in prison is enough punishment.
