PM Narendra Modi has praised rapper Hanumankind for showing India's traditional martial art forms in his latest song, 'Run It Up'.

Rapper Hanumankind, aka Sooraj Cherukat, has found a fan in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM praised the rapper for showing India’s traditional martial art forms in the music video of his latest song, “Run It Up”. He congratulated the singer for his new track during the 120th episode of his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat.
During the episode, PM Modi praised Hanumankind for promoting Indian martial art forms including Kerala’s traditional martial arts Kalaripayattu, along with Gatka, and Thang-Ta worldwide. He said, “Friends, our indigenous games are now becoming a part of popular culture. You all must be knowing the famous rapper Hanumankind. His new song ‘Run It Up’ is becoming quite famous these days. Our traditional martial arts like Kalaripayattu, Gatka and Thang-Ta have been included in it.”
He added, “I congratulate Hanumankind that due to his efforts, people of the world are getting to know about our traditional martial arts.”
Hanumankind rose to fame in 2024 with his international hit, “Big Dawgs”. The song was shot in a “well of death” also known as “maut ka kuan,” where stunt drivers perform on motorcycles or cars. Similarly with “Run It Up,” the rapper again went back to Indian heritage and showed several traditional Indian folk performances and martial art forms.
Hanumankind also made his acting debut in 2024 with Malayalam film Rifle Club, which starred Anurag Kashyap, Vijayaraghavan, Dileesh Pothan, Vani Viswanath, Suresh Krishna, Vineeth Kumar, Hanumankind, Ramzan Muhammed, and Surabhi Lakshmi. It was directed by Aashiq Abu.
