Taking to her Instagram, Saturday evening, Miley wrote, “I rarely comment on rumours but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us.” She called Tish her best friend, and made it clear there’s no bad blood: “Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me—simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.” As for her dad, that’s where things have been a bit more complicated. Miley admitted, “My dad and I have had our challenges over the years.” But now that she’s in her 30s, she says family matters more than anything: “I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”

Last week, the singer reunited with her dad at her brother Braison’s 31st birthday and even posed for a picture together with Miley’s boyfriend Maxx Morando. Fans noticed Miley’s growing closeness with her dad after months of speculation that began when the singer snubbed him during her Grammy-winning speech, which allegedly strained their relationship. The tension only worsened when Miley’s sibling, Trace, wrote an open letter expressing concern for their dad, revealing how he and the girls were worried about him. Recently, Billy Ray posted an old video of Miley singing, captioning it, “Can’t wait to see this young lady.” Meanwhile, both of Miley’s parents have moved on. Tish married Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell, and Billy Ray married fellow singer Firerose, though their wedding was short-lived, ending in divorce just a year later in 2024. He’s now dating actress Elizabeth Hurley.

Miley has previously dismissed rumours of a feud with her dad Billy Ray after addressing their relationship during her 2024 appearance on David Letterman’s Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. She admitted how the country singer shaped her career and gave her “a map of what to do and what not to do.” Adding that she seems to have “inherited some narcissism” from him, Miley said, “Without my dad, I know — I mean, not just literally I wouldn’t be sitting in this chair, I wouldn’t exist — but I would not, who I am as a person, it wouldn’t exist.” She didn’t forget to credit her dad for bringing creativity into her life, but went on to admit, “Honestly, my mom is my hero.”
