Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh recently shared his views on artistes making songs that have a deeper social message embedded in them. He feels that the listener does not accept it when artistes try to deliver a message.

“There is no responsibility for an artiste to do such a thing because we are artistes, not scholars,” the “Glassy” singer said in an interview with India Today, noting how his 2008 track about Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his 2023 track about woman empowerment were major flops.

Honey Singh credited the return to his classic ‘carefree’ style to the audience and the kind of reception he got from them. “This is why we make songs like ‘Angrezi Beat,'” added the rapper before sharing his experiences while making his 2024 album Glory. “I was acting like a 40-year-old man with a sense of sensibility and responsibility towards my audience. So I decided I was not going to be naughty and funny, but nobody liked it either.”

Honey shared that he would rather act foolish and like his old self because the audience resonates with the ‘stupid’ artiste more.

The “Blue Eyes” singer is currently performing in 10 cities all over the country as part of his Stage Aaj Tak X Honey Singh Millionaire 2025 tour.
