Mirage revolves around an investigative journalist who is forced to join forces with a woman on the lookout for her missing fiancé. However, the movie underperformed at the box office, with critics citing patchy execution as a key factor. An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of Mirage read, “In the Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali-starer, director Jeethu Joseph has tried to inflate a wafer-thin plot and an equally papery script by slipping in ineffectual twists very frequently.”
