Malaikottai Vaaliban teaser: Mohanlal-Lijo Jose Pellissery continue to maintain suspense around much-anticipated film

The teaser of Malaikottai Vaaliban is here and it doesn't reveal much about the film except for a glimpse of Mohanlal's look from the promising movie.

In this day and age, it is hard for filmmakers to maintain suspense around their project, as everything from the plot to even the looks of the actors gets leaked online killing the excitement for fans. However, Mohanlal and Lijo Jose Pellissery have continued to keep fans guessing what their upcoming film Malaikottai Vaaliban is all about. While fans were expecting to finally know more about the film through the teaser, which was released on Wednesday, things didn’t go quite their way as the promo didn’t reveal much.

The teaser begins with the Tamil monologue of Mohanlal, who says, “What you have seen is the truth. What you have not seen is a lie. What I will show you now is the truth.” Screaming the last part of the line, Mohanlal swings his scarf to strike a wallpaper-worthy pose, and that’s all we get from the teaser.

If one has to decode the teaser, a calculated guess would suggest that Mohanlal might be playing a magician or an illusionist in Malaikottai Vaaliban. However, with director Lijo Jose Pellissery one can never be sure. One has to wait till January 25, 2024 to see and believe the truth.

Produced by John & Mary Creative, Century Films, and Maxlab & Saregama, Malaikottai Vaaliban is scripted by P S Rafeeque, who has earlier worked with Lijo in movies like Nayakan and Amen. Talking about the film, Lijo said, “For me, the process of finalising a theme doesn’t originate from the pressure to create the next big hit; it’s a natural progression. The basic idea of Malaikottai Vaaliban began germinating within me a couple of years ago and then metamorphosed into a comprehensive plot. A writer like Rafeeq expanded that world, and it was only then that we realised Lalettan (Mohanlal) was the perfect fit for that role.”

Sonalee Kulkarni, Hareesh Peradi, Danish Sait, Manoj Moses, Katha Nandi, and Manikandan Achari also feature in Malaikottai Vaaliban, which has cinematography by Madhu Neelakandan and music by Prashanth Pillai.
