Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra box office collection worldwide day 20: Kalyani’s blockbuster all set to overtake L2 Empuraan’s Rs 265 crore haul

Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra box office collection worldwide day 20: Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is just few crores away from becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. The superhero drama has surpassed the lifetime collection of films such as Manjummel Boys, Thudarum, and 2018, and is just Rs 15 crore away from beating Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan. Lokah stands at a total collection of more than Rs 250 crore worldwide, while L2 Empuraan earned Rs 265 crore globally after being made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, which is five times more than Lokah.

Lokah Chapter 1 had opened at Rs 2.7 crore on its release day, and it actually made more on its third Tuesday, taking its grand total to Rs 124.9 crore India net, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. On day 20, Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra witnessed an overall occupancy of 29.75% in the Malayalam language. In Telugu, the occupancy was 14.92%. Lokah, which first opened with 600 shows, increased its number of shows to about 1700 after receiving positive word-of-mouth. The shows, however, have once again reduced to about 800 across India including all the languages, making way for newer films.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, directed by Dominic Arun and produced by actor Dulquer Salmaan under his banner Wayfarer Films, stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian and Premalu fame Naslen. The superhero film is Dulquer Salmaan’s attempt at beginning a full-fledged Malayalam superhero cinematic universe.

Speaking to Just Too Filmy, filmmaker Dominic Arun shared his next film in the universe will revolve around the character Chathan–a character played by actor Tovino Thomas. He briefly appeared in the first chapter, giving a glimpse of his character as a goblin.

This will mark Tovino Thomas’ second superhero film after his critically acclaimed Minnal Murali. Reports also suggest that the third film in the universe will revolve around Dulquer Salmaan’s character Charlie-who is a sword-wielding ninja and member of the Odiyan clan. A film on the Odiyan clan is also in the pipeline–the folklore from which Lokah is inspired. Lokah has broken many records and has reportedly sold nearly 5 million tickets on BookMyShow.
