Lokah Chapter 1 box office collection day 23: Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, produced by actor Dulquer Salmaan, has officially become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role, the fantasy drama has raked in an impressive Rs 267 crore worldwide within just 24 days of its release. The film has surpassed the lifetime global earnings of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal, which previously held the record with Rs 265.5 crore. Remarkably, Lokah was made on a modest budget of Rs 30 crore, making it one of the most profitable Malayalam films ever, with nearly 900% returns.

On its 23rd day, the film grossed Rs 2 crore, with an overall occupancy of 24.52% in the Malayalam version, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The film is still running across India with over 650 shows daily. The film’s nett domestic collection currently stands at Rs 130.5 crore.

Following this historic achievement, Dulquer Salmaan expressed his gratitude on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Lokah has made history as the all-time highest-grossing Malayalam film and an Industry Hit. A milestone powered by pure teamwork. Grateful to the team & the audience for this unforgettable journey.”

In addition to its box office dominance, Lokah has also achieved a landmark moment in South Indian cinema — it is now the highest-grossing film featuring a female lead across all South Indian film industries.

This is the seventh production under Dulquer Salmaan’s banner, Wayfarer Films, and marks the beginning of his ambitious superhero cinematic universe. Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra draws inspiration from the legendary folklore figure Kalliyankattu Neeli, a revered yakshi (female spirit) from Kerala’s mythology.

The film also features Naslen, Sandy Master, Chandu Salimkumar, and Arun Kurian in key roles. Notably, Dulquer Salmaan appears in a special role as Odiyan, while Tovino Thomas makes a guest appearance as Chathan.

Director Dominic Arun has confirmed that the second installment in the franchise will focus on Tovino Thomas’s character, with Dulquer Salmaan taking center stage in the third chapter.
