Lokah Box Office Collection: And just like that, the Malayalam film industry has crossed yet another historic milestone, cementing its status as a force to be reckoned with. In a significant achievement, director Dominic Arun's blockbuster superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which had already emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time last month, has entered the Rs 300 crore club, becoming the first movie from the regional industry to achieve this feat. The film, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, reached this benchmark on the 45th day of its release. Although Lokah opened to rave reviews from all quarters upon its debut on August 28 during the Onam season, it wasn't expected that the movie would soar so high, let alone become an industry hit. However, the film soon became a hot topic nationwide and started generating exceptional revenue from various markets. On September 22, the makers of the movie announced that it had emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, grossing over Rs 275 crore globally. It dethroned Prithviraj Sukumaran's Mohanlal-led L2: Empuraan, which earned Rs 265.5 crore during its theatrical run, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, to occupy the top spot. Now, Lokah has become the first Malayalam film to cross the Rs 300 crore mark globally, thus adding another feather to its cap. The most-watched Malayalam film globally in the 21st century, according to its makers, Lokah has also become the first film to cross 50,000 shows in Kerala theatres alone. It has already been watched by over 11.8 million viewers globally and also set a record as the first Malayalam film to sell over 5 million tickets through online ticket booking apps. In his review of the movie, SCREEN's Anandu Suresh called it the "India's finest superhero film" and noted, "What makes the Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen-starrer far better than other massive-budget fantasy spectacles is that its magnificence extends beyond visual brilliance to include impeccable writing."
