After Fahadh Faasil, Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko opens up about his ADHD diagnosis: ‘Only outsiders view this as a disorder; it’s my best quality’

“In people with ADHD, this behaviour is much more pronounced, which is why it’s called a disorder. Someone with ADHD always wants to be noticed and will try to stand out from other actors. They’ll perform according to the character, seeking more attention from the audience. Only outsiders view this as a disorder. For me, ADHD is my best quality. Some people say ‘a stain is good,’ right? It might not apply to everyone, but for me, ADHD has been very beneficial,” Shine Tom Chacko, who was last seen in Little Hearts and is now gearing up for the release of Thaanara, added.

ADHD is a neurodiverse condition that affects people’s behaviour and social interaction. They seem restless, may have trouble concentrating, and may act on impulse. Most cases are diagnosed when children are under 12 years old, but sometimes symptoms are not as manifest and are diagnosed later as an adult. The cause of ADHD is unknown, but it can be genetic. It manifests in those who have had premature births or whose mothers were into smoking or alcohol abuse during pregnancy.
