Aadujeevitham‘s box office collection on day eight has set the survival drama up for a healthy second weekend of release. The Prithviraj-starrer on its second Thursday minted Rs 3. 25 cr in India, according to early estimates by shared by industry tracker Sacnilk. After clocking Rs 5 cr on Monday, the film maintained its pace at the box office, steadily earning more than Rs 3 cr daily.

After eight days, the Blessy directorial has recorded a healthy total of Rs 47 cr in India. On Friday, the film will cross the Rs 50 cr mark domestically, and then make bigger gains on Saturday and Sunday. On the global front, though official figures are yet to roll out, Aadujeevitham is likely to cross the Rs 100 cr mark after its second weekend.

Aadujeevitham is pacing way ahead of the last Malayalam blockbuster, Manjummel Boys, which currently stands at the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time. Manjummel Boys, which was also released on a Thursday, had minted Rs 26.35 cr after eight days– way below what Aadujeevitham has managed to generate in the same time.

Manjummel Boys, however, had a stronger second week as the word of mouth started to spread and the film did a whopping Rs 37 cr in week two. That looks unlikely in the case of Aadujeevitham, as the film has benefited from excellent word of mouth right from day one, and opened to high anticipation from fans.

With an open run at the box office, Aadujeevitham might follow in Manjummel Boys’ footsteps and cross the Rs 100 cr nett mark in India. Manummel Boys finished its run with Rs 126 cr domestically and Rs 220 cr worldwide– figures that Aadujeevitham would hope to surpass.

Aadujeevitham is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel of the same name by Benyamin, and follows the life of Najeeb Muhammed, who, employed as a goatherd against his will, survives in a slave-like situation in the middle of the Saudi desert.
