Aadujeevitham box office collection Day 5: Prithviraj’s survival drama aces Monday test, outperforms recent Malayalam hits
Aadujeevitham box office collection Day 5: Prithviraj's survival drama passed the crucial Monday test with flying colours, surpassing the standards set by most major Malayalam releases in 2024.

Following an impressive opening weekend, director Blessy’s survival drama Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life), starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, witnessed an anticipated dip in its daily box office collections on Monday. Nevertheless, the film, which has been receiving overwhelmingly positive responses since its release on Thursday, passed the crucial Monday test with flying colours, surpassing the standards set by most major Malayalam releases in 2024.
After achieving its highest single-day earning of Rs 8.7 crore on Sunday, the film recorded an impressive nett of Rs 5.25 crore in the domestic market on Monday, albeit marking a 39 per cent slump, industry tracker Sacnilk reported. The survival drama’s total domestic nett now stands at Rs 35.55 crore, with a global gross of Rs 64.85 crore.
On Monday, Aadujeevitham achieved an overall occupancy rate of 53.74 per cent in the Malayalam market. The morning shows began with a 40.85 per cent occupancy, which rose to 52.52 per cent during the afternoon and peaked at 61.26 per cent in the evening. However, there was a slight decline during the night screenings, and the occupancy rate stood at 60.31 per cent.
In Kerala, the film earned Rs 3.85 crore on its fifth day in theatres, as reported by local industry tracker What The Fuss, with 255,885 admissions across 1,387 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 66.79 per cent collectively.

Meanwhile, Aadujeevitham’s first Monday collection is significantly higher than other blockbuster Malayalam movies of 2024 such as Manjummel Boys, which currently stands as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, Premalu, Bramayugam and Abraham Ozler, which earned Rs 2.6 crore, Rs 1.65 crore, Rs 1.65 crore, and Rs 1.35 crore, respectively.
Despite its genre and nature, sans any mass appeal or fan service moments, Aadujeevitham’s continued success provides a significant boost to the industry and indicates a shift in audience perception and viewing habits. On Sunday, the survival drama had also entered the Rs 50 crore global gross club, making it the fastest Malayalam film to achieve this milestone.
In his review of the movie, The Indian Express’ Anandu Suresh noted, “Prithviraj Sukumaran delivers one of his career-best performances, elevating the Blessy film above its shortcomings. Despite a somewhat shaky start, he admirably rises to the challenge, portraying Najeeb with authenticity.”
