BTS’ Suga apologises for ‘disappointment’ caused over DUI; thousands flock to HYBE HQ to cheer him on. Watch
BTS’ SUGA returned home after military service, penned a heartfelt apology on Weverse over his DUI, and was greeted by thousands of ARMYs outside HYBE.

BTS’ SUGA has returned home after serving in the public sector and joined his bandmates Jin, Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook, RM, and J-Hope at HYBE’s building. The Daechwita rapper was exempted from active military duty due to a shoulder injury, so he opted for the alternative service instead. Upon return, the first thing he did was pen a long note on Weverse for anxious ARMYs anticipating his comeback. The K-pop idol, who has kept things low-key ever since his DUI controversy that caused uproar in Korea last year, apologised once again to fans for the disappointment and said he’d share updates occasionally. Moments later, thousands of ARMYs were seen marching toward HYBE headquarters, despite the label’s warnings not to gather, to welcome him.
BTS’ Suga apologises to fans over DUI
Though the rapper had already apologised for his DUI, where he fell off his electric scooter while drunk and his blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.227%, he did it again for the third time. He started the letter by greeting the fans and thanking them for patiently waiting for two years. “As of today, since I’ve been discharged [from my service], I am greeting you after a long time. Since it’s a day I waited for a long time, and since it’s been so long, I worried a lot about how to greet you guys. More than anything else, firstly, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who waited for me all this time. I missed you so much,” he wrote.
Further, the K-pop star directly addressed the backlash, saying, “I’m really sorry for the disappointment and concern I caused. I hurt the fans’ feelings, and I felt bad knowing how much it affected the members, too.” He promised to try even harder going forward and said he’d keep sharing updates from time to time. “I love you,” he ended the post.
As expected, the moment was too emotional for ARMY. Some even called out HYBE for not holding a proper event for the rapper, like they did with the other six members. However, moments later, thousands showed up at the HYBE headquarters to welcome SUGA home. Earlier, BIGHIT had issued a warning asking fans not to gather outside, no matter what. But ARMYs brought posters, banners, and photo cutouts to celebrate the moment. Some even brought flower wreaths in protest of HYBE for not treating their idol fairly.

So this is Yoongi’s car that came out along with Yoongi’s letter on Weverse and no one noticed because everyone was still crying. Only this army recorded it. He passed by, he saw everything, he knows he is so loved 😭 pic.twitter.com/YOdDgXMryP

A few fans tweeted they missed seeing his car pass by because they were busy reading his heartfelt message on their phones. Fans took selfies with the decorations, shared the pictures online, and hoped Yoongi would see it all and feel comforted. Many also responded to his apology with love and reassured him that they still stand by him and will protect him if his agency fails to do so. With SUGA’s discharge, all seven members have now completed their military duties. The septet earlier had a full-fledged reunion during J-Hope’s HOPE ON THE STREET, held at the Goyang Sports Complex on June 13, which also marked BTS’ 12th debut anniversary. A full-group comeback is expected in March 2026, and rumours of a world tour are already doing the rounds.
