Why was Thor crying over Deadpool’s body? Marvel fans are sure they’ve seen a glimpse of Avengers: Secret Wars
A Deadpool and Wolverine theory suggests that audiences might have been shown a glimpse of plot point from Avengers: Secret Wars.

The blockbuster Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine is replete with cameos from unexpected characters and plenty of Easter eggs, and despite the protagonist’s disdain for multiverse-spanning stories, largely features a plot that takes him across universes. Fans have already started dissecting every plot beat and every frame of the movie for clues about the future. And one stray moment in particular is drawing a lot of speculation.
In the movie, Deadpool is mistakenly shown a glimpse into the future, seemingly at his own death. Deadpool’s primary motivation in the film is save his best friends, whose lives are threatened when Mr Paradox, a middle-manager at the Time Variance Authority decides to stage a silent coup and take control of every timeline in existence. He summons Deadpool to the TVA’s headquarters, and lets him in on a secret: he says that Deadpool’s timeline is being erased entirely, and that there are multiple versions of him in existence. Deadpool is invited to join the ‘Sacred Timeline’, where he can have a shot at becoming a true hero.

In the headquarters, he is shown a wall full of retro televisions, where scenes from the MCU’s past are playing out. We see glimpses of Captain America, and several other characters. We also see a shot of Deadpool dying in Thor’s arms, much like how War Machine almost died in Iron Man’s arms in Captain America: Civil War, or Loki dying in Thor’s arms in Thor: The Dark World. Deadpool seems to be badly injured, and half his mask has been burned off. Thor appears to be crying, which indicates that in the future, they share some kind of a friendship. Deadpool is immediately distracted by the scene, and asks Mr Paradox what it means. Mr Paradox nervously tries to distract him, and says that he shouldn’t have seen it.
Now, fans on Reddit are trying to dissect what the scene meant. Was it actually a glimpse into the future, or was it an attempt by Mr Paradox to throw Deadpool off? “Why was Thor crying?” one person posed on the social media platform, inviting theories, speculation, and predictions. One fan replied, “Ryan Reynolds said in interview they had 3 purposefully bad ideas for Deadpool 3 to make it ‘bad on purpose’. One idea was a movie called Alpha cop. Where it’s two cops in one mind to make the alpha cop. And 5 minutes in the marvel logo would hit and it’d hit people seeing it ‘oh this is Deadpool and Wolverine’. Another idea was a very very low budget car trip with Wolvie and Deadpool where they look back on things together and Dopinder would be the driver. The last one is where the answer is. Is they had an idea to frame for frame re-do Thor 2 with only one shot in the end changing. Which after watching DP & W, we could tell that shot being Thor crying over Loki ‘dying’ but instead it’d be Wade. Which I’m guessing they threw that in as a little Easter egg.”
Other fans were convinced that we’d just been shown a glimpse of how Deadpool dies in Avengers: Secret Wars, which was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, along with its predecessor, Avengers: Doomsday. One fan wrote, “I think Deadpool dies in Secret Wars,” and another fan replied, “I seriously doubt it. He’s too popular and the MCU just got a hold of him.” A third fan speculated that the tease signalled a culmination of “everything DP ever wanted. He wanted to have meaning and be beloved by the Avengers.”
Regardless of what the blink-and-miss moment might mean, it’s obvious that the filmmakers wanted the audience to take notice of it. But everybody will have to wait until 2026, at the earliest, for any sort of crossover meeting between Deadpool and Thor. Deadpool and Wolverine has made nearly $500 million worldwide, out of which almost Rs 80 crore has come from India.
