Pop star Taylor Swift has been all that anyone can talk about in the past few months. The 35-year-old got engaged to American football star Travis Kelce and then released her album, The Life of a Showgirl, her first project since buying back the masters to her music. However, a recent rumour took the internet by storm about Taylor saying no to performing at the famed Super Bowl halftime show. The singer addressed the same and clarified her stance on the whole matter while appearing on late-night TV. Taylor Swift appeared on Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show to promote her new album. The singer and the host played a fun game in the middle of the interview, where Jimmy had been given 5 situations regarding the singer, and he had to guess which one of them was true. One of them said, "Taylor refused to perform at the show because the NFL (National Football League) won't let her own the video rights to her performance." While the reason turned out to be false, Taylor saying no to the coveted spot was true, and the singer explained her decision to her fans and the audience of the show. Jay Z has always been very good to me. Our teams are very close. They sometimes will call and say, 'How does she feel about.' and that's not an official offer or a conference room conversation. We're always able to tell him the truth, which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field." Taylor Swift also talked about Travis Kelce watching her fiance Travis Kelce play on the field. She said, "That is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous. The whole season I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he's out there every single week putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I'm like, 'I wonder what my choreo should be. I think we should do two verses of 'Shake it Off' into 'Blank Space' into 'Cruel Summer' would be great.'" She clarified that her decision to not perform at the Super Bowl halftime show has nothing to do with Travis and that he would love for her to perform. She is just "too locked in". The rumour that was actually true out of the five was that singer Ed Sheeran, who also happens to be a close friend of Taylor Swift got to know about her engagement through Instagram, like everyone else. She tried to defend herself and said, "I have a really good explanation for this. He has no phone. At least he doesn't have one that works. This is the one thing I love about him; it's very eccentric. But when I was going through my texts to tell them the news, he just wasn't there."
