Superman box office collection day 1 early report: James Gunn’s much-awaited film Superman finally hit theatres on July 11. Superman is off to a promising start at the Indian box office, with a collection of Rs 4.7 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk

If we go by the early numbers, the DC superhero film is expected to become one of the biggest Hollywood openings in India in 2025. The film recorded an overall English occupancy of 13.24% on Friday, with morning shows at 11.46% and afternoon shows rising to 15.02%. The highest theatre occupancy was seen in the Hyderabad and Kochi regions, both at 15%.

With positive word of mouth and reviews, Superman is predicted to surpass Rs 40 crore by Sunday. Meanwhile, Jurassic World ended its first week with Rs 53 crore earnings in India, and F1: The Movie performed well in its first 14 days, collecting Rs 61.30 crore India net at the box office. The film is faring well despite competition from Bollywood releases, such as Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, Kajol starrer Maa, Vikrant Massey’s Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, and Rajkummar Rao starrer Maalik.

An excerpt from SCREEN’s review of Superman read, “The plotting, beating, hurting, fighting, falling, etc never take a minute’s break in Superman – though it is nice to see that superheroes also get bruised, even if they bounce back at superheroic speed. The all-Gunn-blazing treatment is surprising given the short and sweet introduction the writer-director gives to his Superman a.k.a Clark (Corenswet). Realising that there are few in the movie-going dimension who do not know the backstory of the infant from Kryptonite who came to Earth, Gunn streaks through it and does not even waste time on Lois’s ‘Ah, Clark Kent is actually Superman in glasses!’ moment.”

James Gunn directorial Superman also features Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Milly Alcock, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced.
