Scarlett Johansson, who has starred in many Marvel films alongside Jeremy Renner, recently recounted that she was "very upset" when she learned about Renner's near-death accident in which he was run over by a snowplow. The Black Widow actor called his escape "real superhero stuff." In a chat with Variety, Scarlett said that the original six Avengers - Johansson, Renner, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo - are on a text chain and as Renner's condition improved, they kept in touch through the text chain. "On the Avengers text chain, we're like, 'OK, you beat us all. That’s it. You won'," she said adding, "That's like real superhero stuff. It’s unbelievable." Recently, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans visited Jeremy Renner in Los Angeles, who is still recovering from the accident, and Evans recounted that there were "no tears at all. A lot of laughs and smiles and hugs." He added, "Leave it to Jeremy to take something this potentially tragic and turn it into something so inspiring." Scarlett said that she was "so f**king happy to see him." "I didn't know if I was ever going to see him again. To not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally," she said and added, "He's a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person. And you can see that in his work. It comes through. He has such a depth to him. And I just was so happy to see that he is full of life and light, and he’s also hilarious. We laughed a lot." Jeremy Renner, in an interview with Diane Sawyer, said that he was "awake through every moment" when his body was being crushed by the snowplow. The Hawkeye actor said that after the accident, he was "writing down notes in my phone," calling them his "last words" to his family.
