Priyanka Chopra’s latest Hollywood film, Love Again, also starring Sam Heughan and Celine Dion, barely made an impression in its opening weekend at the box office. The romantic drama started its theatrical run in the US with a mere $2.38 million (Rs 18 crore) in the first three days. The film has been facing strong competition from Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Evil Dead Rise and Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret in the US.

Love Again follows the story of a grieving woman named Mira Ray (Chopra), who loses her fiance in a car accident. To cope with her loss, she starts sending messages to her late fiance’s number without realising that it has been re-assigned to a man named Rob (Heughan). Rob finds Mira’s texts to be extremely emotional and tries to connect with her in person, with the help of Dion, who plays herself in the movie. The film features a cameo from Chopra’s husband, singer Nick Jonas.

The film received a ‘rotten’ rating of 19% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and earned a ‘B’ on CinemaScore. However, the audience score for the film is 93% from over 100 users. Variety reported that the film’s budget was $9 million, so there’s a possibility that it is able to recover costs.

Love Again marks Priyanka Chopra’s first theatrical release after the 2021 sci-fi actioner The Matrix Resurrections, starring Keanu Reeves. The actor had made her Hollywood debut in 2017 with Baywatch. Currently, she is also seen in the Russo brothers’ spy-thriller series Citadel. The series also failed to leave a mark on the audience, and earned poor reviews.
