House of Guinness first reviews: When you see the sentence ‘By the creators of Peaky Blinders’, you expect a lot. Stephen Knight’s show was a masterclass in direction, music, cinematography and just pure storytelling. Now he is back with another show titled House of Guinness. The series is an attempt to show what truly transpired between the members of the famous Guinness family after the death of their patriarch.

Reviews for the show paint a confusing portrait, to say the least. The Los Angeles Times opined that the “series is a little loose on the historical facts” but still grows on you. Esquire went all out to show its love for the series and said that it is equipped to take the crown away from shows like The Crown. All of the publications and reviews online are very aware of the fact that each episode starts with the warning “This fiction is inspired by true stories,” and they know that the entire premise, narrative and intrigue can be ruined by a single Google search, but the show still has a lot of fans online.

Fans online appreciated the writing of the show and actor Louis Partridge. One fan commented, “Louis Partridge, you are a star. House of Guinness, you are the best series of 2025. Just watch it.” Another agreed with the sentiment and wrote, “Watching the House of Guinness, and what strikes me is how beautiful the penmanship was of people seemingly from that period, even when writing threatening letters. If I tried to handwrite a blackmailing letter, it’d be indecipherable even to myself.”

But some did not agree with this review, as one user commented, “I started watching House of Guinness on Netflix. It is piss poor… I switched it off less than 15 mins in. The acting and the script were substandard, but the rap music was the last straw.” Some people pointed out that much of the following was because of Louis, and one user commented under the trailer of the series that, “Netflix knew what they were doing when they put Louis on the cover of the video; lowkey, I only clicked on this video to see him.”

House of Guinness follows the story of one of the most famous brewing empires of the world. It also features Anthony Boyle, Jack Gleeson, Louis James Norton, Emily Fairn, Niamh McCormack, and Danielle Galligan.
