Tom Cruise’s highly anticipated film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is creating a buzz among fans as they eagerly wait for its release. Adding to their excitement, the film has achieved an impressive score of 98 per cent on the review aggregator website, Rotten Tomatoes. This makes it the highest-rated film of the 27-year-old Mission: Impossible franchise.

The franchise’s sixth instalment, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, previously held the top spot with a 97 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. On the other hand, Mission: Impossible 2 received the lowest score within the franchise, with a 56 per cent approval rating.

Earlier today, Tom Cruise shared a behind-the-scenes video from the iconic train sequence in the film. The video, filmed in Norway and the UK, showcased the death-defying stunts performed by the actor and his co-stars. The video featured Cruise’s character, IMF agent Ethan Hunt, engaging in a knife fight atop a fast-moving train as it speeds through a real valley at 60 miles per hour.

The tension escalates as the train ultimately plunges into the water, leaving Hunt and Hayley Atwell’s character, Grace, clinging desperately to a carriage to save their lives. While the trailer provided a sneak peek of this sequence, the behind-the-scenes footage showcased the immense effort and challenges involved in bringing this thrilling sequence to the screen. Cruise expressed his excitement and wrote, “This train sequence was tricky, but the outcome made it all worth it. I can’t wait for everyone to see it come to life.”

The stunt was done by Cruise himself and an actual train was built so the team could destroy it in the plunge. McQuarrie says in the video that the shoot was done at a rock quarry in the UK and “involved multiple factors of difficulty”.

Directed and written by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One boasts a star-studded cast, including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Esai Morales, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, and Henry Czerny. The film is set to hit the theatres on July 12.
