Mission Impossible 7 box-office collection day 1: Tom Cruise delivers biggest Hollywood opening of the year, actioner rakes in Rs 12 crore in India
Mission Impossible 7 box-office collection day 1: The film is poised to become the first installment of the franchise to make more than Rs 100 crore in India.

Tom Cruise-starrer Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was released in theatres on Wednesday. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the big-budget tentpole has minted Rs 12.50 crores in India. Helmed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film will become the biggest opener from the MI franchise in India. Mission: Impossible – Fallout, released in 2018, had an opening of Rs 9.25 crore nett in India, ultimately making around Rs 80 crore.
Variety reported that Dead Reckoning Part One is expected to make around $85 million to $95 million in North America and $160 million internationally in its first five days of release. This would result in a global opening of $250 million. The film will face competition from Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig’s Barbie from July 21.
The opening day collections of the film in India are on par with Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa’s Fast X, which also debuted with Rs 12.50 crores. However, it has outperformed other popular Hollywood films this year, such as John Wick: Chapter 4 (Rs 10 crore), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania at Rs (Rs 9 crore), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with approximately (Rs 7.30 crore) and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny Box (Rs 2 crores).
The official synopsis of the film read, “In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins.”
The Indian Express critic Shalini Langer gave the film 2.5 stars. A part of the review read, “As if resorting to the irritating and, frankly, greedy trend of splitting a film into two is not enough, as if the interminable length of 164 minutes of this part is not enough, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One fills up the time with endless talk.”
