Director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio have joined forces once again in the highly-anticipated film, Killers Of The Flower Moon. The film's newly released trailer offers an extensive look into the devastating clash between America's Osage people and white settlers over oil-rich land. The trailer's tagline reads, 'This is the real American Dream.' Based on the true-crime saga by David Grann, Killers Of The Flower Moon sheds light on the harrowing events that unfolded in 1920s Oklahoma. The Osage tribe, having discovered lucrative oil deposits on their land, becomes a target by their white neighbours. Motivated by greed, they orchestrated a series of murders, claiming the lives of over 60 Osage tribe members in an attempt to seize their wealth. The trailer begins with DiCaprio complimenting Lily Gladstone's character, who is a member of the Osage tribe, for the colour of her skin. They later fall in love and are together as a couple. Robert De Niro's charcter then enters the picture and instigates DiCaprio's character about the Osage people of Oklahoma, who became wealthy through the discovery of oil on their land, referring to it as "black gold." De Niro's character declares, "This wealth should be ours. Their time is over." The trailer then offers a glimpse into the haunting reality of systematic violence inflicted upon the native people of Oklahoma. This leads to Lily Gladstone's character getting revengeful and declaring, "I must exact vengeance on these white men who took my family from me." Killers of the Flower Moon premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival to resounding acclaim, with critics hailing it as a "masterpiece". The film will theatrically release in October. In India, the film is set to hit the theatres on October 6, followed by its streaming debut on Apple TV.
