Killers of the Flower Moon trailer: Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio promise a chilling Western

“Greed is an animal,” a title card flashes in the middle of Killers of the Flower Moon‘s trailer– the maiden attempt at Western by filmmaker Martin Scorsese–and, as the tempo of the promo builds up, a follow up card flashes, “That hungers for blood.”

The trailer of the highly anticipated Western crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon dropped on Thursday. The one minute fifty second trailer presented a taut, tense, chilling and arresting glimpse into the world of the auteur’s latest, which is getting ready for an October 6 theatrical release.

Before it hits the screens, the film will have its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 20. Based on David Grann’s acclaimed best-selling book, Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the “serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.”

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion. It marks the first feature film collaboration of DiCaprio and De Niro since their 1993 coming of age drama This Boy’s Life, which was helmed by Michael Caton-Jones.

The movie’s screenplay has been penned by Martin Scorsese and Eric Roth, known for Forest Gump, Munich, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, A Star is Born and Dune.

Hailing from Apple Studios, Killers of the Flower Moon is produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. The film will later stream globally on Apple TV Plus.
