Despite the FCC and Donald Trump breathing down their necks, it seems like late-night talk show hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert and others have their fair share of fans to choose from. The audience got a little taste of that during Kimmel’s recent trip to Brooklyn, where he shot some episodes. While his crew was still setting up the stage for the episode, Kimmel surprised a fan and got a heartfelt message in return.

Kimmel was talking to his fans and called someone from his crew to give a microphone to one of the audience members. The member in question was a local resident, interestingly of Indian descent. The old woman got up with the mic in her hand as Kimmel politely asked about her age. She quipped, “I am 28 years old.” This caused the rest of the audience to burst into laughter as Kimmel confirmed that she was in fact 90 years old.

The woman expressed her appreciation for the show and said, “I am not 90 years old; I am in the prime of my life, and I love you. I have been watching you for the last 16 years, and I love what you do, and I love you very much. I appreciate what you’re doing, and we need you back; we need you.” Kimmel expressed his love for her as a fan and joked with her about only watching the last 16 seasons, when he has been on the air for 22 seasons.

At the end of this conversation, Jimmy Kimmel got down from the stage and clicked a picture with the lady, who looked delighted with the idea. She kissed him on the cheek lovingly and greeted him with folded hands.

Fan moments like this make the whole episode of Kimmel getting ‘cancelled’ and then ‘reinstated’ even more unfortunate. After Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s death didn’t go down well with the FCC Chair and Donald Trump, his show was taken off the air. He was informed of the show’s cancellation while he was filming an episode. The studio audience had already been seated, and the crew had to send them back.
