One of Netflix’s heavy hitters, Emily in Paris is returning for a new season, and this time the protagonist is taking over a new European city. Emily’s professional and romantic expeditions have taken her to Rome, and while the teaser doesn’t explain a lot except for the fact that the city looks good on her, the new location seems to have a lot in store for Emily.

Apart from a few dialogues sprinkled here and there, most of the teaser has a narrator explaining exactly what is happening on the screen. In a matter of a few seconds, the makers establish Emily’s new location, her beauty, and the suitor who is accompanying her on this journey: Marcello. However, keeping in mind the ending of the last season, Gabriel is bound to lunge into the story at the most dramatic point. The on-and-off partner had an epiphany in the last episode of Emily in Paris Season 4 about the love he feels for the star of the show.

Emily is seen heading even bigger events, traipsing around town in vintage cars, as both she and Marcello look at each other with dreamy eyes in every other shot. Her close confidante or first mate, Mindy Chen, also seems to be doing quite well for herself, and she is the one who tells Emily that Rome is really suiting her. However, a quick observation from Julian about all of Agence Grateau’s employees being in Rome and not in Paris might be a hint to some problems on the business front.

Creator Darren Star has, however, admitted that Emily isn’t going to be just in Rome, and she will eventually show up in Paris. The change in location came because Star “wanted to stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places.”

The cast of the show includes Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount and more.
