Bob Dylan's biopic, A Complete Unknown, starring Timothée Chalamet, is all set to release in the US on Christmas Day. In an X post on Wednesday, Dylan wrote, "There's a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!). Timothée Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy's a brilliant actor, so I'm sure he's going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me." The singer, also a Nobel Laureate, also gave a shout-out to author Elijah Wald for his book. "It's a fantastic retelling of events from the early '60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you've seen the movie, read the book," Dylan further wrote. A Complete Unknown will focus on Dylan's controversial decision in 1965 to embrace the electric guitar, alienating many of his original fans. The film is based on Wald's 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric. The project is directed by James Mangold, who has achieved both critical acclaim and box office love for films like Le Mans 66 (Ford v Ferrari), Logan, and Walk the Line, just to name a few. Chalamet will be accompanied by a star-studded cast comprising Monica Barbaro, Edward Norton, Elly Fanning, and Boyd Holbrook. Barbaro will be playing the legendary female pop singer Joan Baez, who was involved with Dylan both professionally and romantically early in his career. The trailer shows Dylan (Chalamet) take on several different battles, including his tumultuous personal life and how his switch towards the electric guitar threw his life for a spin.
