Yami Gautam dismisses ‘fake filmy awards’ as Oscars 2024 conclude, applauds Cillian Murphy’s Best Actor win

Heartwarming speeches to some outlandish moments, this year’s Oscar ceremony wasn’t any different from a typical award show. Amidst the Oscar buzz, Bollywood actor Yami Gautam called award ceremonies ‘fake’, while also praising Irish actor Cillian Murphy for his resilience as he clinched his first Oscar for his lead role in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Cillian also became the first Irish-born actor to win a Best Actor Oscar.

In a post on X, Yami expressed her skepticism towards what she referred to as ‘fake filmy awards’ but she also expressed her excitement on Cillian’s win. She wrote, “Having no belief in any of the current fake “filmy” awards, since the last few years, I stopped attending them but today i am feeling really happy for an extraordinary actor who stands for patience, resilience & so many more emotions.”

Continuing her praise for Cillian, the actor wrote, “Watching him being honoured on the biggest global platform tells us that in the end it’s your TALENT that stands the tallest above anything. Congratulations #CillianMurphy! #Oscar2024.”

Cillian Murphy’s overdue Oscar win marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career. The actor has delivered several iconic performances in films such as Dunkirk, Disco Pigs, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, and the acclaimed series Peaky Blinders. His collaboration with Christopher Nolan spans several projects, including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Inception. Oppenheimer garnered widespread acclaim at the Oscars 2024, securing victories in seven categories, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Director and Best Film.

Coming back to Yami Gautam, the actor is currently basking in the success of her film Article 370. According to Sacnilk, the movie has grossed Rs 65.7 crore in India within just 17 days of its release. The film is co-produced by Yami’s husband and filmmaker Aditya Dhar, who is known for directing Uri: The Surgical Strike.
