Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who went on a hiatus for nearly five years after 2018 film Zero, made the entire waiting period worth it for his fans with his two powerful films, Pathaan and Jawan. While, Pathaan collected a total of Rs 1055 crore post its release in 2023, his film Jawan went a step ahead and collected Rs 1160 crore during its run in the second half of the year. In Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan played double role–father Vikram Rathore and son Azad.

In a recent interview, Atlee revealed he had a bet with the superstar about which of his characters from Jawan will be the mass hero. While Atlee claimed Vikram Rathore will become people’s favourite, Shah Rukh Khan believed his girl fans will be fond of his younger character Azad.

Atlee told Pinkvilla, “When I was discussing Jawan with Shah Rukh Khan, I told him, ‘Sir, you wait and watch, Vikram Rathore is going to become a mass character.’ He just looked at me and said, ‘No, sir. Girls like me, Azad will be the mass hero.’ We both bet on it. Soon after he watched the film, he turned to me and said, ‘Boss, you were right.'”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Vikram Rathore sported a salt and pepper look. The character entered in the second half of the movie and became an instant hit with the actor’s fans as it was the first time when he sported such look.

In an earlier interview, Shah Rukh Khan had shared how with films like Jawan and Dunki he did age-honest roles. “I am 58 now, and I feel I should do age-centric roles now. Jawan was more like a commercial, ‘in-your-face’ kind of character.
