What Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan asked Zayed Khan before casting him in Main Hoon Na: ‘Can you act?’

Speaking at an event, Zayed had said, “I was a big fan of SRK prior to coming [on board] on Main Hoon Na. So actually I was calling Farah, to ask if she could choreograph a song in my movie. I called her and she said, ‘Who’s this?’ I said I am Zayed Khan, son of Sanjay Khan, brother of Fardeen Khan. She told me to call me after a week. When I called after a week, she again asked, ‘Who are you?’ I once again explained.”

He added, “She then said, ‘Okay, meet me at this office.’ So I go to somebody’s office, I don’t know whose office it is, and I enter Shah Rukh Khan’s office, and I’m wondering why am I in Shah Rukh Khan’s office?  And I meet Farah, and I go to his main office area, and she’s sitting there and she’s saying, ‘We are considering you for a role in my film Main Hoon Na.’”

Zayed revealed that after having a nice conversation, Shah Rukh asked him a question, and upon hearing his answer, they signed him for the film. He said, “So he looks at me, he makes very good, pleasant conversation, and then he sits down and he asked ‘Can you act?'” I said, ‘I am born to act.'” “‘So I think they were very kind of surprised at my answer, and that was it. They signed me for Main Hoon Na.”

Zayed also expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh by describing him as one of the most fantastic individuals one could ever know. He recalled a conversation which stuck with him and said, “‘I remember a time when he was a brand ambassador for a television product, and I was just wondering why Sony and others, why did you choose this product. I told him ‘for your stature, it does not make sense.’ He told me Zayed before my mom passes away she gave this television as a gift and that’s why I am the brand ambassador.”

The actor, who had been away from films since 2015, made a recent announcement about his comeback to the movie industry. Taking to his Instagram handle, he wrote, “Hello people! With your love and support, it’s been ’20 YEARS’ for me in the industry. As then, once again I’m excited to tell you guys that my new movie is just around the corner and I can’t wait to share it with you guys. Now, the next 20 years are gonna be Kickass.”
