Shahid, who essays the role of a rockstar in Udta Punjab, once again shared an update of the efforts that went into the preparations of the character of Tommy Singh.

A lot has been said and done about the film Udta Punjab over the past few days. The film, which stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in the principle roles, made headlines because of the 89 cuts demanded by the Censor Board, of which only one was approved by the Bombay High Court in a landmark verdict that came on Monday (June 13), much to the relief of the film’s cast and crew. Shahid, who essays the role of a rockstar in Udta Punjab, once again shared an update of the efforts that went into the preparations of the character of Tommy Singh. The actor took to Instagram to share a series of videos where he is seen hitting the gym.

The actor’s lean and ripped body for the film is all thanks to his religious workout which, honestly, makes him look nothing less than a gym beast.

Udta Punjab also features Alia Bhatt as a migrant Bihari labourer, Kareena Kapoor Khan as a doctor, who is determined to fight the illegal transportation of drugs, and Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh as a police officer.

The film is directed by Abhishek Chaubey, who was relieved after HC ordered Udta Punjab’s release with an A certificate and only a single cut (HC asked the makers to delete the urinating scene) along with a slight change in the disclaimer, thereby safeguarding the creative interests of the film-maker and producers (Phantom films and Ekta Kapoor). It is now expected to release on June 17.
