War 2 box office collection day 11: Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s film loses over 3,000 shows in 11 days, earns just Rs 6.50 crore

War 2 box office collection day 11: War 2 was supposed to be the biggest release of Independence Day week. It is reportedly the most expensive film in Yash Raj Films spy universe. It also marked the Bollywood debut of RRR star NTR Jr, but none of these worked in the favour of the film–which began to show a decline in its collection from the very third day. After opening at Rs 52 crore on 14 August, the film went on to collect Rs 174 crore in the first weekend. However, the film’s earning dropped to single digit from its first Monday with the Ayan Mukerji directorial earning just Rs 6.50 on its second Sunday, as per box office aggregator Sacnilk.

Despite being high in action, the film received negative reviews for its weak plot and even weaker villains. The film witnessed an overall occupancy of 20.65% in the Hindi language, 35.45% in the Tamil version and 20.68% in the Telugu language. In just 11 days of its release, the film saw a drastic fall in its number of shows screened across India. The film has been reduced to 2,963 shows with 434 shows in Mumbai and 734 shows in Delhi-NCR compared to 6,257 shows on its day 1. About 3,294 shows have been reduced in 11 days.

The film’s total collection stands at Rs 221 crore at the domestic box office, while worldwide the film has reportedly crossed Rs 300 crore mark. War 2 is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 400 crore and is far from reaching its breakeven mark.

Meanwhile, its prequel, War (2019), made on a budget of Rs 150 crore had opened at Rs 53 crore and earned Rs 471 crore worldwide. That film, directed and co-written by Siddharth Anand, starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor in the lead roles. Whereas, War 2 has been written by Shridhar Raghavan and directed by Ayan Mukerji–his first action thriller film after directing films like Brahmastra, Wake Up Sid, and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

Apart from Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr, the film stars Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana, and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles.
