Vikrant Massey recalls selling mobile phone to pay hotel bill during Goa trip: ‘We all exhausted our money’

From Dil Chahta Hai to Madgaon Express, many films have captured the quintessential dream of college and high school kids traveling to Goa with friends. Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey recently revealed that he fulfilled this fantasy when he took a trip to India’s favorite holiday destination with friends after he started making some money. However, the trip wasn’t all smooth sailing. In a recent interaction, Vikrant shared an anecdote about running out of money during the trip, which forced him to sell his mobile phone to cover the expenses.

Speaking to Curly Tales, Vikrant recalled, “I had just started earning and I took Rs 5000 with me. I went with my friends in a Volvo bus. It was the last night of the trip, and we used to split all expenses back then. Like, if we bought a cold drink for Rs 20, we’d split it Rs 10 each. At the time of checkout, we had all exhausted our money. We needed to pay the hotel bill. I had a mobile phone, so I sold it to settle the bill and buy return tickets to Mumbai for all my friends.”

Earlier, in a conversation with journalist Faye D’Souza, Vikrant opened up about seeing his parents’ financial struggles as a child. He revealed that his parents, who belonged to an affluent family, were thrown out of their home due to a family feud, forcing them to live in a godown. “They used to live in Juhu and were neighbours to the Kapoor family. Theirs was a classical Hindi film story: they had a family feud, were thrown out of their own home, lived in godowns with a baby for almost a year and then finally moved into Versova,” he shared.

On the work front, Vikrant’s latest film The Sabarmati Report is currently running in theatres.
